The workshop is divided into 4 sections. The first 2 hours are spent with video vignettes that demonstrate actual coding and documentation specifics. We will work through the examples in groups and individually. You will learn how to analyze existing notes and become proficient at writing notes that are compliant with coding guidelines. Learn how you can actually write smaller, more concise notes that have all the required documentation.
The next session will go into details explaining the specifics of Evaluation and Management coding. Learn about coding History, Physical Exam, and Decision Making the easy way! Never again submit to hours of boring coding lectures. You will work through sequential notes that explain the guidelines as we go. We will progress through increasingly complex notes while learning the guidelines as appropriate to the individual cases. Remember how you learned so much more in residency by seeing actual patients than you did during the first year of extensive lectures? We are going to model the same learning pattern here. We will let patients teach us how to code and document!
After lunch, the third session will deal with coding and documentation pitfalls. As we work through actual patients, we will see that often situations arise that seem a little more difficult to code. You will learn what these patients look like and equip yourself with the tools to ensure both excellent documentation and appropriate coding and billing.
The last session will deal with practice management issues. Specifically we will discuss making systematic changes in your office and workflow. Additionally, it is now official that ICD-10 will be implemented nation-wide on October 1, 2014. You will learn specific strategies on how to implement this in your practice while not getting overwhelmed by the details. Other strategies will be learned to help decrease the amount of work you have to do in documentation. Learn ways to make your life easier—work smarter, not harder!
Here are just a few of the things you will learn:
